Diabetic Foot Care
DIABETIC FOOT CARE IN DES PLAINES AND HOFFMAN ESTATES
More than half of diabetics have mild to severe forms of nerve damage, including loss of sensation or pain in the hands or feet. At the Illinois Foot & Ankle Clinic, Dr. Alexander Yanovskiy and his staff are skilled at helping diabetics deal with foot issues and preventing amputation. Diabetes is the leading cause of nontraumatic lower extremity amputations in the United States. Let our clinic help you improve your diabetic health outcomes.
What kind of diabetic foot care do you provide?
Problems of the lower extremities, including numbness, tingling, foot ulcers, and heel and ankle pain, are among the most common complications of diabetes. I am able to assist our diabetic patients with all foot and ankle concerns and help them learn to maintain proper foot health.
What can diabetics do to ensure healthy feet?
Prevention is the key. I recommend daily foot inspections for my diabetic patients, as well as proper shoes, control of blood sugars, regular visits to health care providers, exercise, and a healthy diet. While inspecting your feet, look for changes in the skin such as cracks, red streaks, sores, drainage, or swelling. If you see any changes in the look or feel of your feet, it’s important to call our office for an appointment. If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to ask us!
